This CD features a collection of Italian oboe concertos, including many rare works. Barbirolli, one of the great conductors of this century, married an oboist and left behind two oboe works. These include an arrangement of Corelli's sonata into an oboe concerto, and a concerto reconstructed from a work attributed to Pergolesi. Cimarosa, whose works are undergoing significant reevaluation, left behind many harpsichord sonatas filled with beautiful melodies, some of which were arranged into oboe concertos by the contemporary composer Benjamin. Bellini, a composer of operas, also has a frequently performed instrumental piece that is a memorable masterpiece (information from the seller).
