This is a set of five "sea bream (tai) chopstick rests" I received as a gift about 20 years ago from someone in Okayama. They have no glaze or painted decoration, and are likely Bizen-yaki pottery, but since I have neither the box nor any documentation, I've marked them with a "?". (Please forgive me if I'm mistaken!) As is characteristic of Bizen-yaki (?), each one has a different color and texture of the clay, and the scales have unique patterns, giving them a simple, rustic charm. Each one is about 7cm long, 5cm wide, and the tail curves upwards, making the height of that part about 3cm. As mentioned, there is no box or documentation, only the five chopstick rests themselves. (The chopsticks in the photo are for illustrative purposes only.) ※The last image in the photos is a similar work (commercially available) made by an artist. It is not the item for sale in this listing. Please view it for reference only.
