These are often effective when the fish aren't responding to flies on the surface; a slightly deeper presentation can make all the difference. If the weight is too heavy, you'll get snagged frequently, and the fly's movement in the water will become unnatural. To avoid this, I've placed small beads on the sides of the flies, making them easy to use in my primary fishing grounds, the headwaters of the river. There are three body patterns: cream, brown, and peacock, with three of each color. The tails have a UV color accent. This is one of my main flies that I've used and loved for many years.
