Bizen ware, a flower vase from Taizan Kiln, with a wooden box. The bottom also has the mark of "Taizan Kiln" (photo 5). Bizen ware from Okayama is a craft item made by shaping high-quality clay one piece at a time, drying it, and then firing it without painting or glazing. This brings out the natural expression of the clay, and no two pieces are ever alike. It is recognized as a Japan Heritage item.
