It does snap shut, but it comes off easily with a slight pull. It doesn't just slip off when you pick up the cap, but maintenance may be required in the future. I received this pen from a family member, but I personally didn't like the design, so I kept it stored in my room for a while. I'm not familiar with this model, but after a quick search, the size is 136mm with the cap on, 150mm when writing, and the maximum barrel diameter is about 11mm, which is the standard Ottantotto size. It uses both cartridges and converters. Some models have an ink window, while others, like this one, do not. I don't know if this is due to the age or a difference in the Ottantotto series models. Therefore, I will leave the manufacturing year unknown. For the listing, I tested the pen with the included converter. The nib width is M (medium) and it allows for a clear, more fountain-pen-like line. The writing feel is slightly firm, but there are no catches or skips due to the nib point finish, and it writes smoothly. After the test writing, I cleaned the section and converter, and then stored them after drying. Regarding the condition, there is a small dent of about the size of image 12 on a part of the cap top. Other than that, there are no noticeable scratches or cracks in the resin parts, and the appearance is in good condition. Also, as mentioned at the beginning, please be aware that the cap fit is loose. It's a long-selling model that has been around since 1952, so it should perform well as a writing instrument.
