This is a French antique Beauvais embroidery. I acquired this extremely rare piece and have cherished it as a display. It is beautiful, but has some imperfections, so I apologize for any inconvenience if I have to remove it midway. I will sell it for less than half price. The black silk fabric is embroidered with many beautiful flowers in a variety of colored, thin threads. The silk fabric is adhered to thick paper. Beauvais embroidery is a very delicate type of embroidery within French haute couture (high-end custom-made clothing embroidery). It was loved by nobles of the time, such as Madame de Pompadour, and developed in the 18th century as a decoration for court costumes. Like this item, it is characterized by delicate floral motifs woven with colorful threads. Because the background is black, the colors and shapes of the petals are vividly visible. It would be lovely to display as is, or you could frame it and enjoy it as a work of art. Size: Approximately 20cm (height) x 33cm (width) There are some slight fold marks, please see the photos.
