This is a "Dala horse," a traditional Swedish craft. 【Origin】 These wooden horses originated in the Dalarna region of central Sweden. They were first made as children's toys by woodcutters in the early 18th century. Horses were essential to people's lives, carrying heavy timber during the winter, and are loved as "horses that bring happiness." 【Features】 They are hand-carved from Swedish pine or han wood boards and hand-painted with traditional "kurbits" patterns, which are floral and plant motifs. 【Manufacturing】 Akta Dalahemslojd was the name of a workshop that manufactured Dala horses. In particular, it seems that they manufactured Dala horses for export and domestic use from the 1960s to the 1970s. This workshop no longer exists. ●Condition This item was part of a private collection.
