This is a genuine U.S. military "M-1951 Pile Field Cap." Manufactured on May 21, 1952, by Atlantic Highlands MFG. CO. This is an early production model, a rare piece with both original labels intact. This is one of the M-51 series of equipment issued during the Korean War for cold weather conditions. The lining uses a boa material made of alpaca blend.
