This is a kimono with total shibori (tie-dye). It is a luxurious kimono with hand-tied shibori. The pattern of the fence is created with shibori, appearing as a single picture through the seams. This type of patterned kimono is called "Eba-komon." The formality changes depending on the obi (sash) you pair it with, allowing you to wear it as a casual kimono for everyday wear, or for a wider range of occasions such as parties and weddings as a visiting kimono. I have worn it 3-4 times to dinner parties. The base color is a light blue. Orange, green, and yellow are used in the fence pattern. The lining (hakake) is a vibrant blue. It is a kimono I love, and I have kept it in beautiful condition, having it cared for by a kimono shop after each wear and stored carefully in a paulownia chest.
