This is a work by my father. It's a sumi-e (ink wash painting) depicting pomegranates (zakuro) and their seeds. The frame is made from repurposed Japanese clothing (kimono) and obi sashes. An acrylic film is applied over the painting to prevent deterioration. It comes with a string for hanging on the wall.
