The "tea puddle," a depression in the bottom of the inside of the tea bowl, is double-layered, which helps the tea to foam well when whisked with a chasen (tea whisk). Also, after drinking, the remaining tea gathers at the center of the bottom of the bowl, making it look clean. My mother-in-law used to teach tea ceremony (Urasenke). She has become elderly and no longer uses these items, so I will be gradually listing them as I organize her tea ceremony utensils.
