This is a kohiki matcha tea bowl. It is a one-of-a-kind piece handcrafted by a ceramic artist, from the mixing of the clay, white slip, and glaze, to the wheel forming and firing. Rather than being pure white, the crackle pattern (you won't catch your finger or get hurt) creates a beautiful landscape, and the bluish-white color from the reduction firing further enhances the color of the matcha. The slightly warped mouth and the shape of the foot all convey the warmth of handmade craftsmanship and careful work.
