Dimensions: Body: Approximately 150mm diameter, 85mm height Wooden Box: Approximately 178mm length, 178mm width, 128mm height Thank you very much for viewing this item from among the many listings on Mercari's website. This is a tea ceremony utensil, a Minami-ban (Southern Barbarian) style ken-sui (waste water bowl) with a shibu (persimmon tannin) finish, made by Shoji Horino of Hachiman Kiln. It appears to be an unused item in beautiful condition. This is a masterpiece that perfectly harmonizes the earthy texture of the Nanban (Southern Barbarian) style clay with the depth of the shibu finish. It is a Nanban-style replica ken-sui by Shoji Horino, a master craftsman of the Hachiman Kiln in Mie Prefecture. While inheriting the rustic simplicity of the old Nanban style, it has a refined form suitable for a modern tea ceremony. The exterior has the strength of rough clay, and the interior has the tranquility of the shibu finish. Although it is a vessel for receiving hot water, it stands out in the tea room as a single landscape. Please check the photos for details.
