This appears to be a shikishi (decorative paperboard) made for safety祈願 (prayer for safety) in the year of the dog, "Mizunoe-Inu" (壬戌). Since it says "Mizunoe-Inu," it is likely a product from 1982 (Showa 57). It is number 6937 of a limited edition of 10,000. It seems my father purchased it and kept it carefully. The outer wrapping paper (washi) shows some dirt and stains, but the shikishi itself is still sealed in its plastic bag and appears to be unopened. I don't see any stains. Made with care by Masashi Tamamura (Tamahisa), a traditional Echizen washi craftsman. Please understand that this is a long-term storage item before purchasing. The characteristics of the washi paper give the impression of a dog's fluffy fur, creating a warm feeling.
