My friend gave this to me two years ago, and they told me, "If you initialize it, the game will be deleted, so you should just play it as is." I've been playing it like that for two years. The game is on a USB memory stick, and you can play it right away by plugging it into the back of the console. I have confirmed that the Wii U console is working.
