Offering a violin bow from the venerable German workshop, Seifert. (Stamped "germany" on the frog's back) While the grade is unknown, it's made with very high-quality wood, and the performance and tone are excellent. The weight is 61.1g, but it feels like it's under 60g (a subtle difference, but bows that balance both ease of handling and the benefits of weight are rare). The craftsmanship is evident in the balance point, the design of the curve, and the selection of wood. This bow originally came with an old French violin I purchased and is from a time before their current lineup. Despite its age, the varnish retains its luster, and the pronounced curve is still intact. (For the record, the photos are unedited. The varnish has a texture that allows you to see the wood grain, with a thick yet soft feel.) If I were to nitpick, I'd point out the wear on the leather wrapping and the tarnish on the silver parts. (The leather is still usable, and the metal fittings can be restored with polishing.) While it's a bow that could easily pass for a master's work, I don't think it would sell at a price reflecting the design, performance, and wood quality, hence this price. There's no need for a rehair, and I confidently recommend this as a lucky find. Furthermore, if you only pay for the round-trip shipping costs, I will accept returns and cancellations for this item.
