"Kurashiki Canvas" fabric is produced through an integrated process, from yarn twisting to weaving. Using the now-rare "shuttle loom," it is carefully woven relying on the experience and intuition of skilled artisans. Specifically, the pre-dyed No. 9 canvas, which is considered difficult to produce, has been treated with water-repellent processing. The tightly woven No. 9 canvas has a moderate thickness and durability, making it the perfect fabric for a bag – not too stiff. Because the yarn is dyed beforehand, the colors are vibrant and less prone to fading. The bag's handles and bottom are made of vegetable-tanned leather. Skilled craftsmen carefully sew them together. The leather and canvas are sturdy, allowing the bag to stand on its own.
