This software is the overseas version, but the game content is the same as the Japanese version. Operation was confirmed using Retro Freak. This is the first Sonic game released on the Game Gear and its sequel. It was released simultaneously with the Mega Drive version, but the game content is considerably different from the Mega Drive version. Tails appears in Sonic 2, but he is in a captive state and cannot be used as a playable character. Also, the "Spin Dash" added in Sonic 2 is not available in the Game Gear version.
