Traditional Wakayama craft: Kishu-nuri (lacquerware) Hina dolls (for the Doll Festival). Comes with a base and wooden box. Body diameter: approximately 12cm. Height: approximately 12cm. Base: approximately 13.5 x 26 x 3cm. When I purchased them, this was the largest size available. Made of natural wood with lacquer and maki-e (sprinkled picture), they are not hollow, so they have a good weight. Features the Kishu Aoi (hollyhock) crest. I have displayed these dolls for many years during the Doll Festival. They are used items, but the lacquer retains its luster. There is some paint chipping on a part of the male doll. The bottom of the female doll has some scuffing. There is writing on the wooden box. Please be aware that these are used items before purchasing.
