Okinawa Sanshin Makabe Style Kuroki (Black Wood) - Honkawa (Genuine Skin) - Single-Ply This sanshin was purchased after winning the Ryukyu Classical Performing Arts Competition, with the intention of having a sanshin that could be used for a long time. It was made by the master craftsman [Yoshimitsu Uehara] in Motobu, Okinawa. I spent a whole day in the shop comparing the sound of various kuroki sanshin and chose this one for its strong, yet gentle and warm tone. I purchased it, but became busy with work and couldn't attend lessons. I didn't want it to become a wasted treasure, so I am now selling it. I played it for about 30 minutes on two occasions as a jiutai (chorus) for local Eisa performances, and it has been stored at home since then. There was a small scratch on the left side of the joint between the sao (neck) and chiga (body) from the time of purchase, but I didn't mind it.
