I acquired this out-of-production Tamiya Grand Prix Series McLaren Honda MP4/4 model car, an Ayrton Senna version, at auction. The McLaren MP4/4 won 15 out of 16 races. This machine, designed by the brilliant and charismatic designer Gordon Murray, achieved a win rate of 93.75%, a record that seemed like it would never be broken. Its lineage was later carried on by Adrian Newey and Rory Byrne. Modern F1 is heavily influenced by the skills of the designers. The McLaren MP4/4 gave Ayrton Senna his first championship, but its success came not only from Honda power but also from Murray's machine design and, of course, Senna's driving. I was satisfied with the beautiful paint job of the completed model, but I am listing it for sale to make room for other completed model displays. Since I bought it, the antenna has interfered when opening the cowl, so I haven't opened it. The base shown in the photos is not included. The rear wing will be detached for shipping. This is not a toy and is not very durable. I will pack it with cushioning materials like air caps for shipping, but please understand that the buyer is responsible for any detachment or damage to parts during shipping or handling.
