Occupied Japan means "Japan under occupation." After World War II, Japan was under American occupation for seven years, from 1945 to 1952. From 1947 to 1952, all export goods were required to be marked with "Made in Occupied" or "Occupied Japan." The manufacturing period was only five years, making this plate very valuable. The requirement to mark "Made in Occupied Japan" by the GHQ was issued as a directive in February 1947 (Showa 22), but it was revised two years later in February 1949, and the use of the word "Occupied" was generally no longer required. At this time, three patterns of marking were permitted: "Made in Occupied Japan," "Made in Japan," or "Japan." Size: Diameter 26cm, Height 2.7cm *Please consider this as a guideline as it is a layman's measurement. Measurements may vary by 2-3cm depending on the shape of the product, which is difficult to measure. The condition appears to have scratches and cracks, but they are distortions or marks made during firing and are not later damage. There are no other particularly large scratches or cracks, but there are some scratches and stains as it is old. We recommend it to those who can enjoy the texture unique to antiques.
