The front and back are knitted, and a soft black fabric peeks out from the center of the back. It's designed to be tied with a knit ribbon tape made of the same material. The knit part is charcoal gray. There are no noticeable scratches or stains, but it has been stored at home, so please refrain from purchasing if you are concerned.
