It is also said to be "a famous stone praised for its texture comparable to Duanxi stone from China." ◉ This piece is a reasonably sized Yakushima stone inkstone that makes full use of the natural stone. No particular stone patterns are seen on the hills, and the surface is very fine, reflecting silver when light is applied. During the inkstone-making process, there are holes and no two are alike, with intense unevenness, giving a rugged feel, representing Yakushima itself.
