Genuine U.S. Military Vintage 1920s Military Coat ~20's U.S.N. ENLISTED MAN'S OVERCOAT 13STAR 10BUTTON TYPE PEA COAT NAVAL CLOTHING FACTORY No size indicated (fits like a size 36) Shoulder width: approx. 42cm Body width: approx. 52cm Length: approx. 83cm Sleeve length: approx. 65cm (shoulder to cuff) *Please note that these measurements are approximate. This is a masterpiece from the WWⅠ era, a 13-star, 10-button pea coat. It was issued to enlisted men and volunteers in the U.S. Navy at the time. The regulation uniform included dedicated trousers and a white hat. The Navy first adopted this style around 1910. The front features a 2x5 (total of 10) button arrangement. It has a double-breasted design that can be adjusted for wind direction. There are hand warmer pockets on the front left and right, and bottom pockets. Each pocket edge has reinforced arrow-shaped stitching. From the 1930s onwards, minor changes were made to the design, with the bottom pockets being omitted and the length shortened. This particular coat has square-shaped bottom flaps, so it is considered a late-model issued around the 1920s. All anchor buttons are original. They are made of lightweight and durable coconut endosperm. The anchor mark is surrounded by 13 stars, representing the number of states when the United States declared independence in 1776. This specification was discontinued when mass production began in the 1930s. The adoption period was only about 20 years. In recent years, a single button has sometimes exceeded 10,000 yen in value. The collar is a notched collar with double stitching, designed to cover the neck in strong winds. A chin strap is present (remnant) on the underside of the collar. The shell is made of high-density melton wool with waterproof treatment. The lining and pocket interiors are made of cotton, not satin or corduroy. There is some wear on the collar fold. Tag is missing. Photos 1 and 2 show the color closest to the actual item. Pea coats from this era were thought to have had few surplus items to begin with. Extant examples are extremely rare and expensive, even in the United States. This coat is in very good condition with almost no signs of wear, so we hope that those who understand the price will purchase it. It is a vintage item from about 100 years ago, but it has little damage or deterioration and maintains a miraculous condition. Those accustomed to vintage clothing should have no problem wearing it as is. *We sell in accordance with Mercari's rules. Please read our profile page to avoid any trouble.
