It can play and tapes can be viewed, but there is some video distortion at the bottom of the screen (please check images 2 and 3). I haven't checked the camera recording function as I don't have any blank tapes. This is a digital video camera compatible with 8mm tapes (Video8/Hi8), so how about using it to digitize your old, nostalgic video tapes? Working units have become very rare in recent years. Please consider purchasing this opportunity. Compatible formats are Video8/Hi8. Not compatible with Digital8. There are some minor scratches on the exterior, but they do not affect the operation.
