This is a stylish teacup featuring a painting of a sailboat floating on a calm sea. The accompanying box is marked with the inscription "Sea Breeze Calm Teacup, made by Tozan" on the lid. Upon close inspection of the foot, there is a very small chip, likely from the time of production *see photo 11*. Considering that it has been nearly 90 years since its creation, the condition is considered good. The box is also in good condition. There are no other scratches or repairs. The fourth son of Hontaku Kunikuni, a chief retainer of the former Omi Zeze clan. Adopted son of the first Tozan. His art names include Tozan and Shoto. Initially studied Japanese painting, but was recognized for his personality and techniques, and was registered as a successor. He inherited the style of the first Tozan, and achieved great results with an elegant and high-class style. He contributed to the restoration of Zeze Kageroen in Taisho 9 (1920), and completed a new kiln. He served as a judge for the Teiten Exhibition and held the position of chief priest.
