The first Koryuan, Sadao Tatebayashi, served as a painter for the Kakiemon family for two generations, the 12th and 13th, and received the Yellow Ribbon Medal and the Order of the Rising Sun, 6th class. His son, Hirohisa Tatebayashi, the second Koryuan, inherited his techniques and researched design, producing numerous innovative vessels. This is a square tsubo, approximately 32cm tall, with a magnificent Kakiemon-style depiction of wheat and the four seasons. A high-quality item with a four-sided wooden box!
