This is a poncho tarp from Jindaiji Mountain Works. It's a PB tarp 5x8 with a hood. The color is brown and it looks really cool. It keeps the weight down by adding almost nothing extra to the PB tarp. It weighs only 221g including guy lines and stuff sack. Its compact size fits in the side pocket of a backpack. I used to carry a pack cover (around 100g), so I can now carry a shelter with only a 120g difference. The photos show it in the side pocket of a Yamato Michi Mini 2, with two Locus Gear CP3s and a Six Moon Designs umbrella, and the poncho tarp. To use it as a poncho, just put your head through the hood and wrap the included shock cord around your waist with a carabiner. It's very easy to use as a poncho. To use it as a tarp, tighten the shock cord on the hood and set it up in the same way as a regular PB tarp 5x8. Peg down two points on the long or short side. Raise the midpoint of the opposite side with a pole about 120cm long. I've attached photos. In bad weather, shorten the pole length when pegging down the short side. (With a Locus Gear CP3, you don't need to extend it.) I was able to secure a space to lie down by pulling up the foot area. I slept with it in 10m/s winds and light rain, combined with a SOL Escape Bivvy XL, and had no problems. It's a lightweight and compact 5x8 poncho tarp. It can function as rainwear, a pack cover, and a shelter, all in a 200g package. It takes practice to master, but it's a very exciting piece of gear. It's lighter than the Six Moon Designs Gatewood Cape and a more specialized gear. It's slightly heavier than the PB tarp, but it adds two more functions. I think it's a tool that makes hiking even more free. The item for sale is unopened and unused.
