This is a set of two Ikkan-bari baskets made by the 14th generation Nara Yoshi, of Nara Yoshi, an established Kyoto shop specializing in Harikago (bamboo baskets) that was founded during the Keicho era (1596-1615). I purchased these over 10 years ago from their shop on Takakura Street, but the shop is now closed, making these items unavailable. They are coated with lacquer, making them waterproof. They are also hard and durable due to the bamboo frame and layers of washi paper, and surprisingly lightweight. I am selling these as I am decluttering, having kept them in storage since purchase.
