This is the first installment of the extremely popular home anime series based on the manga of the same title by Momoko Sakura. The director is Tsutomu Shibayama, who also directed "Doraemon" and "Japanese Folk Tales." TARAKO's unique voice acting as the main character Maruko became a hit. Momoko, a third-grade elementary school student living in Shimizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, is called "Maruko" by everyone. Although she sometimes gets scolded for calling her mother "anta," her grandfather is always on her side. Maruko spends her days experiencing the ups and downs of the events happening around her.
