It is a new, unused item with plastic inserted in the crown (screw) part, but it will work when removed and pushed in. I tested the voltage of one and the battery is full, so you should be able to use it for a while without replacing the battery. (If you wish, I can open it and ship it with the time and date set) There is a protective film on the crystal (glass surface), so please peel it off before use. A black keeper (strap holder) is attached, but a spare red one is included, so you can change it to your preference.
