DIRK BIKKEMBERGS ARCHIVE Lace-up boots from the Dirk Bikkembergs archive. These appear to be a pair made in Belgium in the late 1990s to early 2000s. Based on military boots, excessive decoration is eliminated, and the sewing lines and structure themselves are elevated as design. Bikkembergs' philosophy of "body, movement, and functional beauty" is strongly reflected. The characteristic bluish clear sole is an intentional design to visualize the point of contact between the body and the ground. It's a very conceptual detail that resonates with industrial design and architectural ideas of the time. They are not as assertive as wire boots and are easy to match. Although there are some wrinkles, they are not noticeable because they were stored with shoe trees. There are fine scratches overall, but no noticeable damage. The soles also have a lot of life left.
