Count Apponyi of Hungary ordered a new dinner set for unexpected guests. Herend, in a bind because they needed to make it quickly, created a simplified version using parts of the "Indian Basket" pattern. Thus, "Apponyi" was born. The Apponyi pattern is still one of Herend's most popular patterns and is loved worldwide. I haven't used it for a long time, but I have displayed it.
