Colclough was founded in Stoke-on-Trent in 1890. This is a cute cup and saucer set, typical of Colclough, that was popular with young people in the 1950s and 60s. While there are other Colclough cups with the same design, this one has a round, plump shape with a shaped foot, making it quite rare. The motifs are forget-me-nots and lilies of the valley, and the backstamp says "forget-me-not." Can you tell from the photos? Both the cup and saucer have a slightly textured feel, and they are really, really cute ( *´艸｀) I was carefully storing all 8 sets as trios. I couldn't find plates in good condition, so 6 sets have SOLD, leaving 2 sets remaining. The cups and saucers are very clean. Because the cups and saucers are clean, the scratches on the side plates seem more noticeable. Manufactured in 1950. It's been over 70 years, and it's been several decades since I purchased them. Because I've been displaying and storing them repeatedly, there are some scratches on the saucers and side plates, etc., that occur when stacking them.
