Born in Wake-cho, Wake-gun, Okayama Prefecture in 1943. Graduated from Okayama University Faculty of Education Elementary School Teacher Training Course in 1969. Began sculpting while in university, and has since exhibited and received awards at the Japan Sculpture Association, Hakujitsu-kai, and prefectural exhibitions. Became a member of the Japan Sculpture Association and Hakujitsu-kai, but has since withdrawn and exhibits works as a commissioned artist for prefectural exhibitions. Worked as an elementary school teacher from 1969 to 2004. Inspired by firing pottery made by children during art class, he became interested in pottery and began enjoying it in 1985 by purchasing a small kerosene kiln. In 1997, he built his own kiln for Bizen-yaki. After retiring as an elementary school teacher in 2004, he began making pottery in earnest. Since then, without being mentored by anyone, he has continued to create pottery, making his own unique works based on his own sensibilities and creativity cultivated through sculpture, etc. In 2008, he entered the 25th Tea Ceremony Sculpture Exhibition for the first time and received an Excellence Award. Since then, he has repeatedly been selected and awarded prizes. In 2012, he entered the 5th Contemporary Tea Ceramics Exhibition for the first time and was selected for two works. Since then, he has repeatedly been selected and awarded prizes. In recent years, he has also worked on woodworking in addition to pottery and sculpture. In 2025, inspired by gold-repaired Bizen-yaki, he began researching gold-lacquered Bizen. 〈Style (Pottery)〉 Pursues "beauty of use," mainly creating tea utensils, sake vessels, tableware, and flower vases.
