Hōsai Kameda (October 21, 1752 – April 15, 1826) was a calligrapher, Confucian scholar, and man of letters during the Bunsei era of the Edo period. He was born in Kanda, Edo (there is another theory that he was born in Kamigoka Village, Tominaga Village, Ora County, Ueno Province). Hōsai was his art name. His given name was Tsubasa, later changed to Nagahiro. Abbreviated as Kō (Okoru). His courtesy names were Kokunan, Kōryū, Chiryū, Shiryū, Shiun, and Kōgei. His childhood name was Yakichi, and his common name was Bunzaemon.
