This is a small size kobukusa (tea cloth) used during tea ceremonies, such as those with a chabako (tea box) or goshogago (imperial basket) using shikishi-date (poem card arrangement).
Note: Size is approximately 12cm x 13cm.
It's about two sizes (3cm around) smaller than a regular kobukusa, so it's perfect as a coaster for matcha tea bowls, regardless of school affiliation ❤️
【Dimensions】
With the "wa" (seam) on the right side:
Width 13.2cm x Height 12.2cm. It is made using a pattern, but please allow for slight variations.
【Sewing Method】
Three sides are sewn, and the short side is the "wa" (seam).
❤️ Since it is new, there are no creases in the center.
When folding in half, place the "wa" on the right side, choose your preferred side as the front, and fold it in half.
【Fabric】
Pure silk kinran-donko (brocade) with a rust-colored checkered pattern, featuring a dignified design of chrysanthemum crests, arabesque patterns, and flying cranes woven alternately. Gold threads are woven into each, subtly shining.
The material has a very dense weave, with a firm thickness and stiffness. It's a difficult obi fabric for the maker to sew, and I put a lot of effort into making it.
