This work is from 1959, when Jeanloup Sieff had just become a freelancer, and director Truffaut had just released his debut film, "The 400 Blows." It's a very rare and unusual piece, hardly available in Japan. I am selling my collection at a bargain price as I prepare for my end-of-life arrangements. The original purchase price was over 300,000 yen at the time. I purchased it at a Jeanloup Sieff photo exhibition held over 30 years ago. This is not a reproduction, nor is it an edition number print made in multiple copies at the same time; it is a one-of-a-kind original print. It also has the artist's autograph. It has been displayed in my room for a long time, so there are some stains and scratches on the acrylic glass surface. There is also a stain on the bottom edge of the mount. He quickly rose to prominence and won the Niépce Prize in 1959. He was briefly a member of the Magnum Photos collective and specialized in reportage. In the 1960s, he stayed in New York and flourished, traveling between Paris and New York for world-renowned fashion magazines. In the 70s and 80s, he expanded his genres to include nudes, personal works, advertisements, and portraits. He was dedicated to monochrome photography and left behind many masterpieces. He received the Chevalier of the Legion of Honour and the Paris City Arts Award. He explored three-dimensional-feeling landscapes, nudes, and fashion images that consciously transcended vision, using rich monochrome photography and wide-angle lenses.
