Harimaya Honten, with roots dating back to its founding in Hyogo Prefecture in 1862, became a specialized manufacturer of okaki and senbei in 1971. In commemoration of the new Emperor's enthronement, the shop commissioned Professor Satoshi Yabuuchi of the Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School to create a life-size statue of Crown Prince Naruhito. This is a shikishi (decorative paperboard) made as a commemorative item upon its completion.
