Telemann Edition (50 CDs) Brilliant Classics released a 29-CD set in 2011 for the Telemann Year, but now a 50-CD box set, significantly larger than the previous one, is available. While 24 CDs overlap with the previous set, 26 CDs are newly added, including the oratorios "The Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus," "The Last Judgment," and "Sing, Rejoice, and Be Glad," the opera "Pimpinone," collections of secular and moral cantatas, harpsichord works, fantasias for harpsichord, fantasias for violin, "Scherzi Melodici," and chamber music and concertos for various instruments. Brilliant Classics' Telemann recordings are famous for the "Tafelmusik," which became a bestseller on this site with over 3,000 sets sold. Other notable recordings include Wenz's Paris Quartets, Sauter's Trumpet Concertos, and Peire's Complete Overtures (Suites). The content, including licensed recordings from Berlin Classics and others, is incredibly diverse, offering many interesting listening experiences. As there has never been such a large-scale collection of Telemann in a box set, this 50-CD set can be considered a very convenient collection.
