The production method was devised with hints from paper mache. After layering Japanese paper on a wooden mold and drying it, coloring is applied, creating a unique softness and a warm, rustic atmosphere. Noguchi's works were highly regarded both domestically and internationally. After Noguchi's death, the production of Sanshiro Dolls was once discontinued, but Ms. Michiko Aoki restored them and revived them as "Michiko Dolls."
