This is a Nagoya obi I received from my aunt. The details are unknown, but it appears to have been used very little. It has been stored for a long time and has some fold creases. I believe the color is probably what is called as "asaake" (pale crimson), a muted pink crepe-dyed obi. It is an open-weave construction, with the te-saki (hand section) not sewn together. The pattern is only on the mae-obi (front section) and the otaiko (back section), so I believe it is a type called otaiko-gara (back pattern). It features a gorgeous classical design of vibrant chrysanthemums and a chigaki (grass fence). Because it is a dyed obi, it is best suited for casual occasions. The dimensions are as follows, but please note that these are amateur measurements, so there may be some error: * Width: 30.5cm * Length: 366.5cm This obi appears to have been treated with "Pearl Tone processing," which is said to make it stain-resistant (see photo on page 6).
