Symbol: J.105 Issue Date: October 1, 1984 Issuing Authority: Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the People's Republic of China At 3 p.m. on October 1, 1949, the founding ceremony of the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China was held in Tiananmen Square, Beijing. Chairman Mao Zedong declared the founding and raised the first national flag. On October 1, 1984, the China Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued these commemorative stamps to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the founding of the nation. Stamp 1 (top left) is titled "Hopeful Fields." The design features a propaganda painting by Zhang Anpu, prominently depicting a young woman from a rural area. Stamp 2 (top center) is titled "Bright Future." The design features a propaganda painting by Zhang Anpu. Against the backdrop of a vast blue sky, the crimson Five-Starred Red Flag flutters in the wind, with 12 cranes soaring into the sky, symbolizing a flight towards the future. In the distance, Mount Tai is depicted, and the path leading from the Eighteen Bends to the Jade Emperor Peak is prominent. Stamp 3 (top right) is titled "Scientific Spring." The design features a propaganda painting by Chao Deren, impressively depicting a female scientific researcher. Stamp 4 (bottom) is titled "Defend the Motherland." The design features a propaganda painting by Chao Deren, prominently depicting soldiers of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. These stamps are used and from the original period.
