A work by the master craftsman Seihō Ishikawa of Fuji-Koma. This is a popular "Maki-ko-sho" (scroll lake writing) piece. The high level of carving skill is truly remarkable, and the gorgeous carvings are the object of admiration for enthusiasts. This is a satisfying work that you'll want to hold in your hands at least once. The Seihō name on the bottom of the piece is from the early works, when the artist was still young, according to the previous owner. The Seihōshi art name engraved on the piece (as seen in photo 19) is not found on the internet, but I confirmed the "kigo" (calligraphy) in photo 20. I also owned two other "Maki-ko-sho" pieces, and even comparing them, the carving, brushstrokes, etc. were exactly the same.
