Leakage can cause the screen to darken or roll up and down. Replacing the capacitors will fix this. This happens to all Super Famicoms, so if you are going to buy one, choosing a capacitor-replaced unit will last longer than just a unit with confirmed operation. The circuit board has been washed with alkaline detergent and dried, and after capacitor replacement, it has been wiped with flux cleaner and coated with an anti-rust agent. The cartridge slot is removed from the board, and the terminals inside are individually removed and wiped with anhydrous ethanol. The slot is stripped of old plating and rust, and then replated. The terminals are carefully inserted back into the slot one by one and attached to the board.
