The screenplay was co-written by Natsu Wada and Keiji Hasebe of "Shiki no Aiyoku" (Four Seasons of Love), directed by Kon Ichikawa of "The Hole," and photographed by Kazuo Miyagawa of "Akado Suzunosuke: Mitsume no Torinin." Raizo Ichikawa of "Hitohada Kujaku" makes his first appearance in a contemporary drama, and the cast includes Tatsuya Nakadai of "Oban (Kanketsu-hen)," Michiyo Aratama of "Wakaki Kemono," Ganjiro Nakamura of "Osaka no Onna," and Yoko Uraji, Tamao Nakamura, Yaeko Kitabayashi, and Shinzo Nobu.
