It is made to fit the tenjin (headstock) snugly, so it can be used for tenjin covers up to size 20, as shown in photo 6. You should be able to find a number written on the back of your shamisen's tenjin cover; please refer to that. If there isn't one, measure the back of your shamisen's tenjin with a ruler. If it's 6.1cm or less, it should fit. Free-size tenjin bags are made larger to accommodate everything from hosozao to futozao (thick-necked) shamisen, so they can be a bit loose for hosozao. This tenjin bag is therefore very useful. It has elastic in the opening, making it easy to put on the tenjin, and it's designed to prevent the tenjin bag from slipping off. It was originally made by deconstructing a single kimono.
