In the late eighteenth century, Emma (Vivien Leigh), an English girl who came to Naples to get married, learned that her fiancé had a huge debt and had no intention of marrying her. Sir Hamilton (Alan Mowbray), the ambassador, sympathized with her plight, and she eventually became the wife of the Sir. Three years later, Britain decided to go to war with France under Napoleon, and Admiral Nelson (Laurence Olivier) was sent to Naples. He asked Hamilton to request the King of Naples to send troops, but it was Emma who fulfilled this wish, leaving the reluctant Sir behind. After that, Nelson lost an arm and an eye in several battles, but Emma rushed to him every time and devoted herself to him with affection.
