The center of gravity is low, and the base is slightly thick. It adheres to the conventions of an Ido-style piece, except for the bamboo joints. The actual piece has a stronger reddish hue. This is an Ido-style sake cup with a beautiful form, featuring overall crackle and staining. I believe it is a relatively recent Hagi ware, but I cannot definitively confirm this. It is not a "yaki-ama" (a type of glaze defect), and the surface won't change immediately, but for that reason, I anticipate it will gradually develop with use.
